Taking good care of the environment is one of the vital and important responsibilities of all of us on Mother Earth.
With this in mind, some 23 associates of The Body Shop Malaysia spent their weekend at the Teluk Bahang beach for this good cause recently.
As an official partner of the International Coastal Cleanup, the group gathered at the soon-to-open resort, Angsana Teluk Bahang Penang’s beachfront to conduct their annual beach cleaning event.
On hand to lend support was The Body Shop Malaysia’s managing director Datin Mina Cheah-Foong.
“We have organised this clean-up annual event since 1994 with the aim of fostering awareness about our need to keep our beaches clean and marine life free from marine debris and pollution.
“The last time around, international volunteers around the world participated in the annual International Coastal Clean-Up which falls on every third Saturday in September.
“We had cleaned and removed tonnes of trash from beaches and waterways.” said Foong.
She also stressed the campaign was not just about picking up trash and debris because the volunteers must also collect information on the items they had found.
