The Tzu Chi Jing Si maxim says it all – “If everyone contributes their love, a crisis can be turned into an opportunity and a disaster into a blessing”.

The saying is more true now when we are going through the current CoVID-19 pandemic worldwide.

Recently, the Buddhist Tzu-Chi Merits Society Malaysia with the collaboration of South Island Garment Sdn Bhd (SIG) contributed much needed personal protective equipment (PPE) to the General Hospitals in Penang and Seberang Jaya.

The handing over ceremony of isolation gowns was held at the Penang General Hospital recently.

“Today marks the first of our hand over of 1,000 PPEs to the GH, subsequently we will be delivering 1,000 PPEs more weekly for the next 4 weeks, making a total  of 5,000 PPEs,” Khoo Boo Leong, commissioner of Buddhist Tzu-Chi Merits Society Malaysia.

For their continuous support and assistance to the public and general hospitals,

Tzu Chi should be applauded for its significant achievements for being a well-organized charity with an international network of volunteers in reaching out to poor and needy regardless of race, religion and geographical boundary.

“Through close engagements with Buddhist Tzu Chi Merits Society Malaysia, we are indeed honoured to have the opportunity to contribute directly to Penang and Seberang Prai General Hospital in a small way as part of our corporate social responsibility initiatives,” said Tan Poay Seng Group Managing director of SIG.

“The Covid-19 pandemic has brought about grave hardship to every strata of our society,” he added.

Through charitable organizations such as Tzu Chi, Red Crescent Society, SIG and its directors have since the onset have been contributing to medical organizations on the purchase of Powered Air Purifying Respirators, protective gowns and reusable face masks for their fight against the pandemic and food for the poor and needy in this trying time.

Indeed the deepest gratitude should go to all the frontline healthcare heroes for their kindness, bravery and selflessness to save lives and keep our country safe.

The economic problems we are confronting can only be resolved quickly when the Covid-19 pandemic is contained.  Therefore the healthcare front-liners play such a vital role to our safety and country’s economy.

They also humbly invite more corporates to join hands in supporting the healthcare front-liners to combat the Covid-19 pandemic in this unprecedented difficult time. United we stand.

Meanwhile, South Island Garment Sdn. Bhd. (SIG) had its modest beginning in 1975. SIG is an export orientated garment manufacturer, a wholly owned subsidiary of Magni-Tech Industries Berhad.
