The G Hotel in Penang is pleased to welcome Ertel Volkmar as the hotel’s new Executive Chef. 
 
Born and raised in Germany, Chef Volkmar brings over 30 years of international experiences from various renowned establishments and luxury 5-star hotels across Europe, Middle East, Egypt, Australia and Asia.

This multi-award-winning chef has bagged 8 culinary accolades, including holding the championship title in the Sabah Culinary Fiesta Competition for two consecutive years.  
 
 He started off his culinary journey at a relatively young age of 15 as a Chef De Partie in Wasgauland Hotel Dahn, a well-known 4-star establishment in Germany. 
 
He later then further his global culinary journey as Executive Chef with the Intercontinental chain across Germany, Greece, Australia, Egypt, Eritrea, Middle East and Asia. 
 
During his journey with the brand, he was in-charge in numerous Oktoberfest festival across Asia and Europe. 
 
After more than 20 years working with Intercontinental, his next culinary adventure took him to Egypt where he oversees the kitchen operation as a Cluster Executive Chef in Sentido Oasis Reef Hotel and Sentido Palm Royale Hotel as the Director of Kitchen Operations. 
 
Chef Volkmar later then returned to Malaysia where he headed the Ramada Plaza Hotel, a 5-star hotel by Wyndham in the heart of Malacca City as an Executive Chef. 
 
During his tenure, Chef Volkmar oversees the whole kitchen operation to ensure maximum efficiency and developed new innovative menus for the hotel’s F&B outlets. 
 
He was also actively involved in training and developing creative training plans for all the kitchen associates and ensuring hygiene and grooming standards are met. 
 
In G Hotel, Chef Volkmar will be at the helm of all culinary aspects from menu enhancement to efficient kitchen operations including all six F&B outlets in G Hotel Gurney and G Hotel Kelawai, Executive Lounge in both hotels, banquet events and outside catering events together with his team of culinary expertise.
