Staff of Sunway Hotel Georgetown and Sunway Hotel Seberang Jaya serving free vegetarian food to devotees of the Thaipusam festival.
This time around they celebrated Thaipusam along with staff from Sunway Hotel Georgetown and Sunway Hotel Seberang Prai lending hands to distribute vegetarian food some 2,500 devotees during the annual Thaipusam chariot procession.
They also set up the thaneer panthal (refreshment stall) set up at Jalan Dato Keramat.
The staff members of the hotels were seen serving free food in conjunction of the Thaipusam festival.
Devotees formed an orderly line around the tent to patiently line-up for the food, which included rice, potato peratal, pumpkin, and assorted gravies prepared by Sunway Hotel.
Hotel staff of all races were seen dressed in traditional clothing and happily serving the guests.
Hotel general manager Prakash Kumaran was also on hand to serve the food to members of the public.
“This is a highly anticipated annual team collaboration event between the two hotels as the staff were looking forward to serving their community especially during this festival.
“We want to give back to the people that have been supporting us all these years, we want to do our part for the devotees.

“It was truly a team effort as our staff came together in support since November last year by donating funds and their time in setting up this stall and in preparing the food and drinks.
The initiative is also in line with Sunway Group’s commitment in supporting the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 2, ” said Prakash.
