A delegation from the Association of Sarawak Inbound Agencies (ASIA), Sarawak Tourism Board and Sarawak Convention Bureau paid a visit to Penang to promote the state’s products and attractive tour packages.
The gathering was held at the JEN Hotel in Georgetown.
Present was Sarawak Tourism Board’s Director for Domestic/ Brunei/ Indonesia/ ASEAN/ Singapore Market,Barbara Benjamin Atan and Chua Juan Chuan (ASIA)
The gathering was also attended by Tourism Malaysia’s Senior Director, Domestic and Event, Iskandar Mirza Mohamad Yusof along with TM Northern Region Director Shahrul Aman.
“With direct flights available from Penang, it is a good time to visit Sarawak and appreciate its natural beauty, culture, food and traditions.
“As foreign tourists will take time to come, we want to encourage local travellers to make their holiday plans. In the meantime, we are seeing tourists from India and the Middle making their way here,” added Iskandar.
Meanwhile, Barbara added that Sarawak is getting good response from holiday makers from the Northern Region.
Tour and travels agents had a chance to meet and explore tour packages available from their Sarawak counterparts. Also present was Robert Basluk, the executive director of Borner Adventures who was promoting adventure and nature tourism products among other companies.
Sarawak or the “Land of the Hornbills” is known for its natural beauty, eco-system and multi-cultural people.
