The Light Hotel Penang’s general manager, Raj Kumar (DJN) was judged to be the “Best general manager in Malaysia 2021” by Dubai based, International GM Awards 2021.

The awards are given out to only those who are currently serving as general managers. They must have 10 years experience in the tourism/ hotel industry.

They must also graduate from the Top 25 hospitality colleges in the world and received an award from any other institution in the past.

Every candidate is judged carefully and the areas of judging are – Engagement with clients, Guest review on hotel, PR/Media highlights, Achievements, CSR, Hospitality/Tourism experience, Voting and Education.

The winners will be presented with a certificate, trophy and badge.

“I am honored to receive this international recognition which will only further my passion and dedication for the industry.

“Despite the pandemic for almost two years, our hotel has managed to “weather the storm” and achieve good results.

“We only hope that there is light at the end of the tunnel and the hospitality industry will recoup from this setback,” added Raj when contacted by Penang Hyperlocal.

Raj is also the current chairman of the Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH Penang Chapter).
