Starting tomorrow March 26, 2023, Firefly is offering direct flights from Penang International Airport (PIA) to Singapore’s Changi Airport.
The move will not only benefit travelers from Penang but also those from the whole of the Northern Region.
Firefly will ply the route via their Boeing 737-800 on a twice daily frequency.
Flights depart from PIA at 10am and 6.35 pm respectively, while the return flight from Singapore will be at 12.40 pm and 9.15 pm.
The flight will be operated by the airline’s newly retrofitted aircraft equipped with 189 seats, all in Economy class, which now comes with a vibrant ambience and new features such as the new ergonomic seats and legroom, personal device holder and USB type A and C power outlets for passengers to charge their devices at each seat.
The new service marks another milestone in the airline’s network expansion strategy and its second service to the lion city after resuming flights from Seletar Airport (XSP) and Subang Airport (SZB) in June 2022.
Chief Executive Officer of Airlines (MAG), Ahmad Luqman Mohd Azmi, commented, “Since the resumption of our service to and from Seletar last year, we have seen strong travel demands from both sectors, especially from the business segments.
“This is due to the strategic location and perfect timing, which allows customers from both countries to travel for business activities conveniently. In addition, our recently launched jet
operations into Banda Aceh and Medan (Kuala Namu) enable another option linking Northern Sumatra with Singapore.
Hence, we are pleased to expand our footprint in Singapore by connecting the northern region of Malaysia from Penang to Singapore’s main hub and tap into the wider markets from the leisure segment.”
Customers can purchase their tickets with fares starting from RM109 to Singapore Changi Airport and RM269 to Penang International Airport via Firefly website and mobile app
Firefly, a subsidiary of Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG).
