Penang Hill and its surrounding areas have officially been declared Malaysia’s third Biosphere Reserve.
The Penang state government and the Penang Hill Corporation are proud to be bestowed the honour by UNESCO.
On hand to present the certification was the Deputy Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Datuk Ali Biju over the weekend.
Representing the Penang State was Penang Chief Minister YAB Chow Kon Yeow and state representatives.
Among them were the State Exco for Environment & Welfare, Phee Boon Poh; Deputy Secretary-General (Natural Resources), Abdul Wahid Bin Abu Salim, members of parliament and state assemblymen and heads of department.
