The Spectrum of the Seas arrived at the Swettenham Pier Cruise Terminal (SPCT) on Saturday July 2, 2022 under the glorious rays of the morning sunrise.
It carried some 3,239 passengers along with 1,577 crew members.
The cruise ship is owned by Royal Caribbean Cruises (RCL) and marks the first ship to dock at SPCT since the Covid-19 pandemic lockdown.
The mega cruise ship had sailed from Singapore and made a stopover at Port Klang on Friday, July 1 before reaching Penang.
Coincidentally, there was even a double rainbow over the skies of Georgetown in conjunction with the arrival.
Meanwhile, the vicinity of the SPCT was a hive of activity as the passengers disembarked to visit Georgetown and its surrounding areas.
Among those who saw their business revival were tour and travel agents, e-hailing providers, trishaw riders, taxi drivers, cafes, restaurants and other tourist destinations.
The revival of the cruise industry will surely help the overall economy of the state.
