Penang Port Commission chairman Datuk Tan Teik Cheng said that the cuisine ship will be on its way from Singapore and berth at Port Klang on June 8 and arrive at the SPCT on June 11, 2022.
“The ship will then make its onward journey to Phuket, Thailand after its stopover here.
“This marks the restart of the cruise ship holiday sector after a two- year hiatus and will surely benefit the local tourism sector.
“Tour operators, taxi, trishaw, restaurants and other related sectors will benefit from this move,” said Tan after presenting Hari Raya goodies to Penang Port employees and related government agencies.
The Spectrum of the Seas is part of the Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines fleet and has a capacity of 4,000 passengers.
Tan also added that the revival of the cruise ship industry will greatly benefit the state’s economy overall.
