Thinking out of the box to resolve matters affecting the hospitality industry, the Malaysian Association of Hotels Kedah/Perlis Chapter entered into a partnership with the Kedah Education Department to overcome staff shortage.

Touted to be the first of its kind in the country, MAH Kedah/Perlis will help train students from the school with special needs in Merbok, Kedah.

Present at the signing ceremony at the Star City Hotel in Alor Star was MAH Kedah/Perlis chairman Eugene Dass and State Education Director, Rozaini Ahmad.

Also in attendance was Adya Hotel Langkawi general manager, Razmi Rahmat (vice chairman) and  Reginald T Pereira ( Hon Secretary / Tanjung Rhu Resort Langkawi).

“This is a first collaboration with MAH Kedah/Perlis Chapter and the Kedah State Education Department for our mutual benefit. This will be a “win win” situation for both parties,” said Dass in his opening address.

He also added that MAH Kedah/Perlis will help train and mould these students to suit the hospitality industry.

Meanwhile, Rozaini commented on MAH Kedah/Perlis for coming up with the strategic partnership for the good of the special children.

“Many of the children are slow learners and can be trained to be self-sufficient and be accepted in the community.

Lending support at the occasion were several hotel general managers from Sungai Petani and Alor Star.

Syabas to MAH Kedah/Perlis for the innovative programme.
