The “Lots Of Lazat” (LOL) Virtual Charity Food Fair organised by the Penang Adventist Hospital has received overwhelming support from International F & B brand and homemakers alike.
The fundraiser will run May 10 to June 30th, 2021 where members of the public can call to order or take out delicious and wholesome food from 23 participating F & B outlets and some home businesses.
Every order will see a pre-fixed percentage being donated to the hospital’s Dr. J Earl Gardner Fund.
Among the items available are bakery items to fine dining quality cakes, wholesome vegetarian meals, crowd favourite western meals, Asian delights, pasta & noodles are all part of L.O.L.
“Extraordinary time like this, calls for extraordinary measures; more so when it comes to our fundraising effort.
“Since last year, our fundraising effort has been hampered by the pandemic but we are very clear with our mission; we continue to reach out and help the needy in our community with medical assistance despite the slowdown.

“This trend continues right through to the first four months of 2021. We are thankful to many F & B outlets and I must specially mention some homemakers who believed in our cause and came forward in full support of L.O.L Virtual Charity Food Fair.
“We believe this virtual food fair will see good partnership where we help to co-promote the wholesome meals they offer while part proceeds of food sold will be donated to our Dr. J. Earl Gardner Fund to help needy patients who undergo major surgery,” said Ronald Koh, President & Chief Executive Officer of Penang Adventist Hospital (PAH).
Meanwhile the hospital’s Charity Manager, Jenny Ooi shared that the LOL project aims to raise RM50,000 in aid of the Dr. J. Earl Gardner Fund.
“This will help needy patients who undergo major surgeries. The fund alone, disbursed RM524,939 and assisted 24 patients in 2020 and is at all-time low currently. Urgent funding is needed to ensure that the hospital can continue to help patients in need,” said Ooi.

Among those who had benefited from the fund is Ong Kok Leong, who underwent hip replacement at the hospital.
“I love Adventist Bread. And this is a chance for me to give back for all the kindness shown to me when I underwent my hip replacement surgery at the hospital at the end of last year. The hospital disbursed RM20,000 (70%) medical charity for my surgery.
“Eventhough my contributions may be minimal, but with many people coming together in support of such worthy event, many needy patients will see light at the end of the tunnel,” said Ong.
Another benefactor was Veerkumari a/p Logannathan, who underwent bilateral knee replacement recently.

“I was in a lot of pain and unable to walk and work. Today, I am fully recovered. I underwent both knee surgeries and I had just completed my physiotherapy. I can walk with ease and I am pain free. As a single mother with two children, I feel very grateful that Adventist Hospital helped me with 100% of my knee surgery & physiotherapy cost, amounting to RM43,000. I hope to resume work in due time.” she added.
Pulau Tikus assemblyman Chrs Lee also showed his support to the L.O.L fundraiser by purchasing some of the items..
“My family loves Adventist bread, especially the cinnamon bread. Now, we can enjoy the goodness of their special sprouted bread and do-good at the same time. I am very happy to see such an initiative from PAH which not only raises funds to help needy patients but also helps to create business opportunities for small businesses which are largely affected by the Covid pandemic.
“Of course, it is very heartwarming to see that many restaurants within the Pulau Tikus area which supports L.O.L. I personally urge everyone to support L.O.L but remember to follow the stipulated S.O.P.” added Lee.
