Despite many hotels being closed during the on-going Covid-19 pandemic and the Movement Control Order (MCO) in place, several hotels here have not forgotten their corporate social responsibility.
They are committed to being the first responders when the call for assistance is put out from local communities and governmental agencies.
Take the exemplary deed by the Olive Tree Hotel Penang in Bayan Lepas who reached out to a call from police and military personnel on duty at road blocks during the Movement Controll Order (MCO) to provide them with meal packs recently.
Further, to keep the morale and spirits of the community, they lighted up specific rooms on the hotel’s facade to create the words ” Be Safe” to encourage all citizens during these trying times.
They then sponsored 350 shower caps to the Sungai Dua Health Clinic in Gelugor which cares for the needy and old aged.
Meanwhile, the Sunway Hotel Seberang Jaya played its corporate social responsibility during these tough and challenging times, Sunway Hotel Seberang Jaya donated 1,500 shower caps to Hospital Seberang Jaya for its daily use.
Present to hand over the boxes of shower caps was the hotel’s marketing and communications manager Cheong Ka Mei along with Ramesh Tholasy, senior security manager Sunway Hotel Seberang Jaya.
The Hard Rock Hotel Penang took the opportunity to show support to frontliners in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
They amplified a statement of hope by lighting some of its vacant rooms to help shine a light of hope and spark global unity to combat the coronavirus pandemic.
Thanks to some engineering ingenuity, a giant heart and the country abbreviation for Malaysia (MY) the symbol “❤️MY” was illuminated across the façade of their iconic property’s walls.
“Their ongoing commitment to the health and safety of the local residents is indeed an evidence of great leadership to the world.
“We would also like to dedicate this glowing light display to show solidarity and continuous support to our employees and travel trade partners as we unite and combat the coronavirus pandemic,” said general manager John Primmer.
Another shining example is the Rasa Sayang Resort and Spa which gave out refreshments and lunch packs for the uniformed personnel who are on duty round the clock to enforce the order.
The morale of these personnel was recently boosted by staff of the Rasa Sayang Resort & Spa when they provided refreshments and lunch packs for those on duty near their vicinity.
“Our colleagues at Rasa Sayang Resort & Spa thanked the Royal Malaysia Police and the armed forces for their hard work to control the Covid-19 spread with cold drinks and lunches at the Batu Feringgi roadblock.
The resort also prepared packed dinners for the night duty officers.
Meanwhile, the Buddhist Tzu-Chi Merits Society Malaysia contributed 1,000 face shields to the Adventist Hospital here.
They also distributed surgical masks, face shields, medical gloves, medical gowns and face mask sleeves to several private and government clinics in the state.
They also donated distributed 4,037 hot meal packets to the needy, 118 foldable beds and supported a total of 3,747 underprivileged families from March 17 to 31, 2020.
The society’s commissioner, Khoo Boo Leong said that they have also provided food and personal hygiene materials like tooth brush, toothpaste, soap, towels, hand sanitizers and shampoo to the homeless and street urchins housed at the Kompleks Masyarakat Penyayang along Jalan Utama here.
“Those housed at the centre will also get vegetarian meals three times a day and water from the dispensers installed there. They also received free haircuts provided by a voluntary hair stylist.
“We are also making our own face shields at the homes of our volunteers and intend to support the community until the pandemic ends,” said Khoo when contacted.
