Shangri-La Rasa Sayang, Penang Wins Top Honour at Malaysian National Landscape Awards 2025

Shangri-La Rasa Sayang, Penang has been named the overall champion of the prestigious Malaysian National Landscape Awards 2025, triumphing in the highly competitive ‘Hotel & Resort Category’. 

 

The accolade was awarded in conjunction with National Landscape Day, recognising Shangri-La Rasa Sayang’s exceptional commitment to landscape excellence and sustainable design.

 

Set on 30 lush acres by the sea, Rasa Sayang’s grounds impressed the judging panel with their harmonious blend of aesthetic beauty, functionality, eco-friendliness, and locally inspired design. 

 

The resort’s gardens are a haven for both guests and wildlife, featuring an extraordinary array of tropical flora and fauna such as heliconia, frangipani, cardamom, screw pine, hibiscus, spiral ginger, bougainvillea, pokok pinang (betelnut tree), and majestic rain trees.

 

The award ceremony was officiated by Her Highness the Crown Princess Che Puan Mahkota of Johor state. The top prize, which includes a cash award, was presented to Rasa Sayang’s Chief Engineer, Vicky Vincent, by Datuk Wira M. Noor Azman, Secretary General of the Ministry of Housing and Local Government.

 

“We are deeply honoured to receive this recognition,” said Vicky Vincent. “Our landscape is the heart and soul of Rasa Sayang, offering guests a tranquil sanctuary that celebrates Malaysia’s rich biodiversity and natural beauty.”

 

The Malaysian National Landscape Awards are the country’s highest honour for landscape design, celebrating innovation and sustainability in public and private spaces nationwide.
