The new Penang Governor has been appointed.

Tun Ramli Talib has been appointed as the Governor of Penang with effect May 1, 2025.

He received his appointment letter from the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim earlier this morning (April 24) at Istana Negara.

Also present at the ceremony was Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Penang Chief Minister YAB Chow Kon Yeow, YB Steven Sim Chee Keong, Minister of Human Resources, YB Lim Hui Ying, Deputy Finance Minister among others.

At the same ceremony, Ramli was conferred the Seri Maharaja Mangku Negara (S.M.N.) title which carries the title of Tun.

Tun Ramli will replace Tun Ahmad Fuzi Abd Razak whose term has ended.

Tun Ramli had served as the Perak Menteri Besar and also the Dewan Rakyat Speaker previously.

He will be the ninth Governor of Penang.
