Kek Lok Si Temple lights up for Chinese New Year

The annual lighting ceremony at the Kek Lok Si Temple in Ayer Itam was a spectacular scene as it was lit up with thousands of lights to mark the upcoming Chinese New Year.
Being the Year of the Dragon, in the Chinese culture, the dragon represents good luck, strength, health and also the male element Yang.
The dragon is unique because it is the only mythical creature of all the animals in the Chinese zodiac and babies are born in the year of the dragon more than any other animal.
Present to launch the festivities was Penang Chief Minister YAB Chow Kon Yeow along with Venerable Seck Jit Heng, Trustee and chairman of Yayasan Kek Lok Si.
Highlight of the launch ceremony was the amazing fireworks display which is a much awaited event for the folks in Ayer Ita and surrounding areas.
