The inaugural Community Cultural and Arts Festival 2022 (#CCAF 2022) will be held from November 25 to 27,  2022 in Bintulu.

The event is expected to help promote the integration of culture and arts into community development and to propel the local arts and culture scene in Sarawak up to the next level.

It will be held at the NAIM Street Mall at Bintulu Paragon.

Aptly-themed ‘Strengthening a Sense of Community through Arts and Culture’, #CCAF 2022 will be focused on highlighting local talents and artists, creative individuals aged 7 to 17 years-old are encouraged to participate in the drawing competition from 23 to 24 November to showcase their talents.

#CCAF 2022 is supported by Bintulu Development Authority, Persatuan Penggerak Pelancongan Bintulu, Persatuan Usahawan Kraf Sarawak, Pejabat Pendidikan Daerah Bintulu and Kelab Guru Seri Bintulu.

“The world came to realize the importance of home and strong community ties during the lock-downs and containment measures that occurred over the last three years. With the progressive easing of restrictions and opening-up of communities, we would like to provide opportunities for artists and the public to come together to celebrate and preserve our cultural heritage. With this in mind, we have invited renowned local artists to set up booths at the #CCAF 2022.

They are encouraged to take part in the various activities such as the art exhibitions, live music performances and many more,” said Thomas Wong, Deputy COO, Technical cum Regional General Manager of Bintulu, Naim Holdings Berhad.

A platform to deliver inclusive art experiences to Malaysians, the first-ever #CCAF will feature artworks and crafts by renowned local artists, including batik paintings by Noel Belulok, wall batik painting by Abdul Malik Adenan and many more. There will also be special performances by Florence Lo and
Melissa Francis, both are successful Sarawak singers.

Additionally, local artists are invited to set up exhibition booths and conduct ‘live’ demonstrations to engage with the community through their art and craft works, covering handicraft, oil arts, batik, wood craft as well as portrait painting at the ground floor of NAIM Street Mall. The whole floor will be turned into an engaging art venue for visitors to appreciate art, beyond the confines of a traditional
art fair.

The #CCAF 2022 by NAIM Street Mall serves as a platform to showcase Malaysia’s iconic arts, heritage, and cultural diversity. While it honours Malaysian artists, this festival forms a strong platform for Malaysians, both young and old, to gain a better understanding of their cultural heritage and
strengthen their sense of community. It is open to the public from 25 to 27 November 2022 from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Admission is free.

“Through the #CCAF, we want to activate and develop the arts scene in Malaysia as it is a vivid reflection of our natural heritage. We believe that #CCAF 2022 will not only support the arts community who are our ‘cultural frontliners’ and provide showcasing opportunities but also reinvigorate and strengthen community ties. We encourage every Sarawakian to visit the festival and
support these talented artists,” Wong added.

During the Community Cultural and Arts Festival 2022, there will also be homemade food and beverages for sale, health and beauty activities, including a blood donation drive. Visitors will also be able to enjoy watching various demonstrations on the traditional art of weaving, ceramics-making, flower decorations and many more while enjoying the wide range of music performances along the festival route.

NAIM Street Mall is part of NAIM Bintulu Paragon, the Group’s largest integrated development which is a self-contained hub that consists of the Street Mall, financial institutions, an attractively landscaped alfresco piazza for large scale events and outlets such as eateries, retail and entertainment for friends and families to shop, dine and unwind.
