While stuck in a long queue at a popular hot pot restaurant, his wife challenged him to start his own restaurant.
From here, there was no turning back for entrepreneur, Martin Soon.
This was the start for the Guo Hao Hiao hot pot/steamboat restaurant located at 24A, Lebuh Leith in Georgetown,Penang.
“We serve a fusion of Chinese/Korean/Japanese fusion dishes. Among their popular dishes include Teriyaki Don (chicken, pork belly, beef), Fried Rice, Lamian with minced pork, Braised pork belly rice, Frog porridge and many more,” said Soon recently.
Their latest lunch menu also offers a choice of meat set, seafood set, Gan Guo along with a variety of finger food like the truffle cheese fries, deep fried dumplings, Korean fried chicken and Japanese fried chicken.
To go with your food, they also have a wide range of Chinese tea like the Blooming flower tea, Eight Treasure tea, Lemon, Hawthorn tea, Red Date, Rose Buds Goji tea.
Meanwhile, their soup for the hotpots comes with Garoupa Fish Head & Yam, Signature Tomato, Wild Mushroom Pork Base Soup, Slow Cooked Pork Bone, Supreme Herbal Tonic to suit your taste buds.
“Now, my wife does not need to be stuck in a long queue to enjoy her hot pot,” quipped Soon.
They have a wide range of sauces like minced garlic, roasted garlic, coriander, spring onion, chilli padi, ma la sauce, fermented bean curd sauce, black vinegar, soy sauce, chilli oil, garlic oil, peanut sauce and fragrant oil to with the steamboat.
