The Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Dato Sri Nancy Shukri officiated the World Hospitality, Lifestyle and Entertainment Exhibition (WHOLE) 2020 at the SPICE Arena yesterday (Sept 10, 2020).

The three-day event will last till Saturday Sept 12, 2020.

Present were Penang state exco for Tourism, Arts, Culture and Heritage, Yeoh Soon Hin, Perak exco for Housing, Local Government and Tourism, Dato Nolee Ashilin, Selangor state exco for Entrepreneurs Development , Rural Development and Traditional Village, Rodziah Ismail, Penang City Council Mayor Yew Tung Seang, Dr Ammar Abd Ghapar, Senior Director Domestic & Event Division, Tourism Malaysia, Penang director for the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Jonathan Freddy Bagang, Mary Ann Harris Executive Director Penang Medical Tourism and Ashwin Gunasekeran, CEO Penang Convention & Exhibition Bureau (PCEB).

Others present were the Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH) president Mohamad Halim Merican, MAH Penang Chapter chairman Khoo Boo Lim, MAH Kedah/Perlis chapter chairman Eugene Dass, MAH KL chairman, B E Lim and others.

 

Several governmental agencies from Selangor, Perak, Penang and other states were also well represented.

In her speech Nancy welcomed the launch of the WHOLE event to boost the domestic tourism sector.

“I am confident that this event will help to build connections and help jump start the tourism and hospitality sectors.

“I was made to understand that engagement with international participants is not only through virtual platforms but also B2B sessions with over 50 companies from the Philippines, Indonesia as well as the Middle East,” said Nancy.

She also added that the task of the government is not only to stimulate the recovery of the industry but also bring back to pre-crisis production and employment levels.

“To this regard, the government has implemented various incentives and promotions to restore confidence and growth of the sector,: she added.

Among the hotels and attractions showcasing their products were the Sunway Hotel Georgetown, Sunway Hotel Seberang Jaya, Neo Hotel, Hompton Hotel, Olive Tree Hotel, The Pearl Kuala Lumpur, Entopia, The Top and many more.
