Shoppers and holiday makers visiting Penang’s most popular shopping mall, Gurney Plaza, can now enjoy their “food haven” which has been just completed.

Dubbed the “Gurney Food Hall”, it is located on the fourth floor complete with a modern upscale setting that comprises new dining concepts and experience.

What more, shoppers and walk-in guests will have the chance to dine in the comforts of a cool and conducive environment.

With a massive area of 33,000 sq ft (including common areas) they offer great choices namely, The Port, The Pier, The Palm and The Patio dining experiences.

The dining hall has a maximum seating capacity of 600 pax and is arguably the largest upscale food court (pork free) in Penang Island.

There will also be six restaurants, 25 physical stalls (3 pre built container concept, 16 confirmed brands while some brands who have taken two stalls at a time.

For now, homegrown brands like Teochew chendul, Ban heang chili pan mee, Sin nam huat chicken rice, I LOVE YOO are on the cards.

Among the international cuisines are Hana Ramen, Mr Shawerma, Thailander and Sailor Gourmet.

Meanwhile, local delights are Putu Mayung and Yong Tau Fu,

Todate, the confirmed upcoming restaurants are Kyrin Sushi, Teochew, Chendol and 888 Canteen. More brands are expected to come in soon as discussions are on-going.

The food hall has been set up to fulfill local market demand for a one-stop culinary food haven comprising local delicacies accompanied by some known international food brands under a truly unique dining atmosphere that pays homage to the rich heritage of Penang which dates back to the British colonial era.

“Our intention is to enrich the dining experience by outlining a road map for exploration of good food within a premium mall. That is why this concept is one-of-a-kind,” said Peter Chan, centre manager of Gurney Plaza.

Other attractions on the floor include the beauty and retail shopping after enjoying their unique dining experience, to shop at their home grown fashion retail stores, stock up on your pet supply, score some reasonable priced necessities at MR DIY and then unwind at their wide range of top-to-toe beauty salon comprising of hair, face and body.

So, look out for the soft opening on Thursday, Oct 1, 2020 while the grand launch is expected to be in mid-Oct.
