To further add clarity of the mission, vision, objective and purpose, PIHH Development Sdn Bhd, it has been rebranded as the Penang Halal International Sdn Bhd (PHI).


Following the approval from the Companies Commission of Malaysia on July 10, 2020, PHI will also feature a new logo.

On hand to officiate the new name was Penang Chief Minister, Chow Kon Yeow along with state exco for Trade, Industry & Entrepreneurship Development, Dato Abdul Halim Hussian who is also the chairman of PHI.

Also present was Aida Lim Abdullah, the chief executive office of PHI.

“This is the first event after the mid-term reshuffle of the state exco and portfolio to streamline and update on the five year term and drive Penang forward.

“PHI was established in 2008 to facilitate and promote the halal industry in Penang through regional and international partnership with stakeholders.

“The current crisis of the covid-19 offers many opportunities to strategise our further plans,” said Chow in his address.

He called upon PHI to gear-up momentum to revive the entrepreneurship spirit to drive the economy of the state and country through digital platforms and new marketing strategies.

Meanwhile, Aida Lim said that the new name and logo for PHI will help them target global opportunities in the ingredients, food & beverage and cosmetics sectors.

“Our new website is more dynamic and we are working with partners like Shopee, Food Panda, Dubai Airport Freezone and others to promote more local firms and companies.

“We would also like to request for more land from the Chief Minister for this initiative,” said Aida adding that PHI aspires to be the leader that champions Halal Business Ecosystem Development for the state, nation and world..

Also present at the ceremony was entrepreneur Datuk Seri Yusuf Taiyoob and Barkath Group chairman and chief executive officer, Datuk Seri Barkath Ali Abu Backer.
