Opened in 1907, Hameediyah Restaurant recognised

Popular Nasi Kandar in Georgetown, the Hameediyah Restaurant was recognised with the George Town World Heritage Incorporated (GTWHI) Heritage Award in the Cultural Continuity Recognition, (Platinum status) segment.

The restaurant was established in 1907 and has served tens of thousands of nasi kandar lovers over the years.

Penang Chief Minister, Chow Kon Yeow was on hand to hand over a plaque to owner Ahamad Seeni Pakir Abdul Shukor. 

“We have been serving our food for more than 100 years to people from all walks of life. There have been celebrities, politicians and other VIP guests who have patronized our eatery,” said Ahamad Seeni Pakir.

He also added that they are the 7th generation running the business currently.

Also present was Hameediyah Restaurant director, Muhammad Riyaaz Syed Ibrahim 

Chow also stopped over at the Makam Dato Koyah, Cheng Woh Medical Hall, Poh Aun Tong and the Kwongtuck Sundries & Liquor to hand over the awards.
