Some 13,000 entrepreneurs from all around the world will converge in Penang for the QNET V- Convention from Oct 7 to 11, 2022.

The convention is expected to generate an economic impact of RM157 million for the state. This is the 36th edition of the gathering and will be held at the Setia Spice Convention Centre.

Present at a press conference yesterday to announce their comeback was Penang Chief Minister YAB Chow Kon Yeow, State Exco for Tourism and Creative Economy YB Yeoh Soon Hin and Penang Convention and Exhibition Bureau (PECB) chief executive officer Ashwin Gunasekeran.

The V Con delegation was led by Dato Sri Subahan Kamal (Chairman of the Q1 Malaysia), Pathman Senathirajah (Director of marketing and sales, Q1 Group), Dev Johl (CEO, V Global Management), Devaraj Jeevaratnam (Business Development, V Global Management) and K. Vijiyar Thevan (Head of Events, V Global Management).

“The annual event organised by V-Global has always topped Penang’s business events industry with the attendance of delegates from 70 countries worldwide.

“It is also the 9th consecutive year that V-Convention has chosen Peang as its convention destination. This event indeed served as a benchmark to prove that Penang is capable of hosting large-scale events,” said Chow in his address.

He also added that hotels in Penang and beyond will be fully utilized to accommodate the delegates.

Chow also was impressed with their theme – “Be The Change” which also mirrors in line with the state’s Penang2030 initiative to “Empower People”, as it is indeed an amazing message to people of all ages that all failures and successes must be reaped with our own hands.

Meanwhile, Subahan said that they are excited to be back in Penang again for the convention and thanked the state government and the Chief Minister himself for all the assistance and support towards the event.

“Many of the people coming this year are global dignitaries, new participants and there will also be many external speakers as well. It will also serve to empower women at the gathering.

“We are sure that this gathering will let the world know about the state of Penang,” he added.

Penang has been home to the V=Convention since 2009 and over the past 15 years brought over 200,000 people to the island.
