Westin Langkawi F&B team brings only the best of Western and Asian dishes

Executive chef, Herwig Khapen at the Westin Resort & Spa Langkawi comes with years of experience in the culinary industry.

It is therefore not surprising that over the years, he has fine tuned the time tested dishes from the Western and Asian regions.

Added to this is his friendly and approachable nature which augurs well with guests and staff at the resort.

He is also known to be always ready with a story up his sleeves.

Herwig brings with him three decades of culinary savoir-faire that renders him almost indispensable in the kitchen.

Hailing from Belgium, he has worked across Asia, the Middle East, Africa, USA, South America and Europe, he leads the team at The Westin Langkawi Resort & Spa to greater heights.

On a more personal note, his favourite Western dish is mussels with French fries while laksa is his favourite local dish.

“Being a chef we are always exposed to new dishes and we are mindful to fine tune these dishes to suit the palate of guests,” said Herwig to Where2lifestyle when met at the resort.

Meanwhile, chef Herwig joined forces with chef Ho Chia Wei who is fondly known as Chef Jiro among his colleagues to present an outstanding wine pairing dinner.

Ho heads the team at “Tide Restaurant” at the Westin Langkawi Resort & Spa as the Chef de Cuisine.

Ho also had recently released a new menu focusing on succulent steaks, seafood and grills,

It is therefore not surprising that it is now known as the best steak and seafood venue on the island.

The duo also did a splendid job recently in showcasing their combined talents during “The Secret To Wine and Food Pairing” session featuring a great selection of Australian Wagyu Tomahawk and Classic Lobster Thermidor dishes along with a fine selection/choices of Katnook Estate wines from South Australia.
