It will not be the same when you visit your favorite shopping mall or hotel anymore.

With the conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) to be lifted soon throughout the country, malls and hotels are preparing to cater for the “new normal”.

Among the standard operating procedures (SOP) include safe social distancing of always being one meter away while in a queue, frequent cleaning of hands with sanitizers or soap and water, wearing face masks and recording temperature at their main entrance.

Take the shining example of the Sunway Carnival Mall in Seberang Jaya, they have set up thermal scanning equipment for checking guest’s temperature at their main entrance while also providing for sanitizer booths.

Guests also also encouraged to keep a one metre distance among themselves at all times.

Visitors are also reminded to use their knuckles to press the lift buttons and wash their hands or sanitize immediately.

To observe safe distance between one another while in the lifts, boxes for marked out for their positioning in the lifts.

All of their escalator hand racks are constantly cleaned by a team of workers round the clock. There are also numerous signage to remind guests to maintain safe distancing and hygiene at all times.

The Rasa Sayang Resort & Spa, all the necessary safety measures have been implemented.

Guests have to observe the one metre social distancing and sanitizers which have been placed at all strategic locations.

“Meanwhile, all booking channels e.g. Agoda. Booking.Com etc is open. The only F&B in operation is the Pinang Restaurant by the beach at Rasa Sayang for lunch and dinner. Breakfast in-room dining is available.

“We will evaluate the business demands during conditional MCO and will open the other F&B outlets in phases,” the Director of Communications, Suleiman Tunku Abdul Rahman in a text response.

Over at the G Hotel, the safety of guests, associates and business partners are of utmost importance especially during these unprecedented times.

Hence, the Management has implemented several preventive measures in line with the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) set by the Malaysian Government such as placing hand sanitizers across all points of interactions, providing face masks, constant monitoring of social distancing in all restaurants and facilities (1-metre mark & safe distance table arrangement), mandatory body temperature checks and logs for all guests and employees, frequent sanitizing and disinfection of all facilities and more.

Nevertheless, among the outlets which are non operational are gyms, spa, surau, sauna, lounge, swimming pool, meetings rooms, seminar halls and training rooms.

It might be an all new experience for many but human beings are hardy and they will soon adapt fast to the new norm.
