The Penang State Tourism will embark on an aggressive two prong domestic tourism campaign through its “Cuti-Cuti-Penang Lang 50% Off” for Penangites and locals campaign to shore up local tourism.
 
They will work with Association of Tourism Attractions Penang (ATAP), Malaysian Association of Hotel (MAH Penang) and other related industry players.
 
The gesture is aimed to bring back confidence for the tourism industry in the state in view of the Covid-19 outbreak worldwide.

“We will be unveiling an outdoor advertising campaign at covered walkways in Kuala Lumpur on March 12, 2020.
 
“Penang State Tourism is the first tourism board to advertise on these covered walkways in KL city centre along Jalan Sultan Ismail and Jalan Raja Chulan to encourage domestic tourism.
 
“I will also be heading to the Pullman Kuala Lumpur to carry out a B2B session with local media and travel operator there,” said State Exco for Tourism, Arts . Culture and Heritage, Yeoh Soon Hin at a press conference at The Top today (March 6).
 
The Penang delegation consisting of 24 participants, namely the Iconic Hotel, Clans Kongsi Georgetown, Travelodge Georgetown, Vangohh Eminent Hotel & Spa, Grand Orient Hotel, Evergreen Laurel Hotel, Design Village, Hotel Equatorial Penang, Tropical Spice Garden, Royale Chulan Penang, The Top Penang, The Habitat Penang Hill, The Gravityz, Angsana Teuk Bahang, Jazz Hotel, Parkroyal Penang, Vouk Hotel, Ghost Museum, Sunway Hotel Georgetown, Flamengo Hotel, Hotel Penaga, The Prestige Hotel, Penang Wedding Professionals Association and Hotel NEO+ Penang.
 
The Penang State Tourism will also take part in the national MATTA Fair at the Wold Trade Centre in KL from May 1 to 3, 2020.
 
This concerted recovery action plan is also supported by the Malaysia Chinese Tourism Association Penang Chapter, Malaysia Association of Tour and Travel Aents (MATTA) Penang Chapter, MAH Penang and ATAP.
 
Meanwhile those carrying identity cards (IC)  with local addresses will also stand to receive massive discounts at these attractions and food and beverage outlets.
 
“We cannot do it alone and need the cooperation of all of the players in the tourism industry to bring back the confidence and help stem losses by working together,” said Allen Tan managing director of The Habitat Penang Hill.
